Tree and bush growing too large

Reported in the Grass and Hedges category anonymously at 09:41, Sunday 13 January 2019

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 4 minutes later

As previously reported in September 2017 (Council ref: 807992), there is a holly bush that has grown very large and tall, blocking the grass area, and next to it a Silver Birch tree that needs crowning. The Silver Birch tree is bending in high winds and may be at risk to properties or vehicles if it breaks. The holly bush is now causing detrimental issues to our back wall; it is now pushing against it and both trees have created significant damage to the wall that will need to be repaired. Please can this be looked at before further damage or the wall falls down. They are down Savile Way, on the right-hand side as you travel towards the shopping precinct, behind the last property on the corner next to Hunter's Close/Carlton Close; I have attached photos of the damage seen from the garden.

We have been advised that this is council property and therefore are unable to deal with this unless we have permission to do so.

  • Please find attached the latest photos of the tree and shrubs in question. The holly bush is of great concern due to it pushing against the wall, and causing constant damage, in particular in high winds. Many bricks have now become loose, and you can see the significant crack. We cannot get the wall investigated properly and fixed until the holly bush is removed. Having logged this initially in 2017, more recently in January, speaking to the Highways Agency last month, and now more detailed photos of the current situation please provide an update for resolution urgently before the wall completely falls down and costs more in which to fix, let alone damage to plants and other items within our property.
