Street lighting not working

Reported in the Street lighting category by Sue Jelfs at 16:30, Thu 27 December 2018

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 5 minutes later

Lights 2 and 3 in Horn Hill Road are not lighting up. This southern end of the street is therefore very dark. I believe both lights were attended to this autumn and worked for a short time.

Thank you for contacting Oxfordshire County Council Street lighting, unfortunately we are currently only available to respond to emergency situations which may have an impact on the health and safety of members of the public, these will be dealt with within a 24 hour period.
Reported faults will continue to be registered on our management system and these will be tackled in coming months.

  • Sadly the southern end of Horn Hill Road is still very dark. As a pedestrian, it is difficult to see one's way on a gloomy night.

  • Ref: 350931 Thank you for reporting this outage for an Electrical asset maintained by Oxfordshire County Council. Reports of this kind are vital to assist us in keeping the County in light.

We have logged your report on our asset management system and we hope to get this repaired as soon as possible. Oxfordshire County Council have recently appointed new term maintenance contractors to manage our electrical highway assets within Oxfordshire, however they are currently dealing with a small backlog of outstanding faults from the transition from the old contractor to the new. Our aim is to get as many faults as possible rectified, however this will be based on an area approach. Apologies for any inconvenience caused while this asset is out of operation.

Kind regards The Electrical – Lighting Team

  • I'm grateful for this work. Thank you. However, there does seem to be an ongoing problem in that both lights 2&3 often don't work at the same time. I do wonder if there is an underlying problem? Fingers crossed this time!
