Recent tarmac repair already failed!

Recent tarmac repair already failed! Potholes have reappeared. Outside the gates to the church. I think you should either rethink your tarmacing process or get a company in who can do a proper job?

Jan 10th 2019. Two large/hazardous potholes have developed outside gates of Wootton St Peter's Cof E Church. This patch of road is built over a Spring and two large patches of road surface have failed and been washed away causing two significant holes.

The situation outside the church in Wootton Village (OX1 5HP) is this. The very poor land drainage which has been in need of improvement for years is again this winter resulting in water running out of the very poor road surface. The road never gets gritted as a consequence at 7.00am this morning the road in this area is sheet ice. I try and find safe passage at 2mph across the road on my moped. School mummys doing the school run at 8-9 may end up in unnecessary road accidents because of neglect to the roads in this location

My partner came off her bicycle this morning fortunately going slowly but given the ice risk the road should be gritted - don’t understand why it isn’t given the use it gets! Will be interesting to see the results of the investigation - who do they get shared with? And more importantly what’s the timetable for getting it carried out and acted upon?

I have informed parish, district & county councillors to see if any pressure can be brought to bear on this issue.

Someone has attempted to fill the holes, I don't think just chucking a handful of tarmac and then stomping it in is classed as a repair, they have broken up and New one's are appearing daily.

Potholes are now dangerous. A water main burst may also have occurred in the vicinity of the potholes causing additional issues as water is filling the area and screening the deep and hazardous potholes.

Photo doesn’t capture the mess created by displaced tarmac from failed attempt to patch various potholes - water still running across and/or up from road- any progress on the diagnostic investigation OCC or VOWH?

The 2 potholes are now full of water and in the dark cannot be seen. I’ve lost count of the number of cars that have ‘hit’ them both. Someone has now placed a cone into the deepest one, at least 4” if not deeper. The cone now marks the hole so that it can be seen in the dark ! This was last night.
There are loose stones/tarmac all over the road and pavement which makes walking difficult and dangerous

The situation with regards to the many temporary repairs outside the church here in Wootton Village should be the subject of a competency assessment to try and understand just how engineers who have a responsibility for roads can act so ineptly over a period of several years which places the users of this road in danger every winter. The land drainage is not effective and really needs to be renewed followed by a complete resurface of the road wearing macadam. Last autumn the engineers placed the tell tail white paint marks to have lager patches of road surface replaced. The contractor did renew some large patches at the sides. The main white section marked off by engineers along the middle of the road was simply not done. Somebody is clearly neglecting their duty or they are inept and we the villages pay for that with our safety

URGENT We have heard via a parent that work is planned and the road will be closed on 10th June 2019. We, Wootton St Peter's CE Primary School, haven't been notified and have a school trip organised, so a coach will need access.
