White lines at junction Hurst/Henley Sts have disappeared

Reported in the Road Traffic Signs and Road Markings category by Jane Buckley at 17:03, Thursday 6 December 2018

Sent to Oxford City Council and Oxfordshire County Council 2 minutes later

The white lines have slowly disappeared at this junction, so now traffic crosses the junction very fast. This is very dangerous, especially for children crossing. I have asked for this to be done since the summer. Please repaint them.

  • Thank you for contacting us over this concern. As you may know, Highway Authorities and their Agents are required to adhere to regulations set down by the Department for Transport (DfT) in relations to what signs and road markings can be placed on the Public Highway and also importantly how and where they are used.

Unfortunately, since these road markings were first installed the DfT has effectively outlawed the use of Give Way lines on all approaches to a junction by effectively stating that there should be a clear route through where vehicles are not required to Give Way.

State changed to: No further action
