Flooding during rainy conditions
Reported in the Blocked Drain / Gully category by mike sheppard at 10:40, Thu 6 December 2018
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 5 minutes later
Surface water is collecting on the highway and flooding half the carriageway causing a series danger to motorists. it would take about an hour for someone with a spade to dig a channel in the roadside verge to the adjacent blind ditch and remove this hazard. as it is, given the road speeds along this stretch of the a41, a series accident is going to happen at some point if this is not attended to. when it is dark the large flooded area cannot be seen until motorists are upon it allowing little time to take any evasive or cautionary action. please get this fixed before someone is seriously injured. all it will take is a shovel and an hour or so of time. there are two large flood areas along this stretch which need the same attention.

Temporary warning signs have been erected but the problem remains. The signs are helpful, but they are rather an admission of a problem than a cure. For the cost of having someone put the signs up it would have been better if someone with a shovel could have cut a channel in the turf verge to drain the ponding water into the adjacent blind ditch; not rocket science or an expensive fix but it would have removed the hazard.
