Street light 4 out at end of Elwes Close, Abingdon

Street light 4 at the end of Elwes Close outside number 12 is not working (6weeks). Problem reported previously and I was notified it was fixed, but it isn't.

Thank you for contacting Oxfordshire County Council Street lighting, unfortunately we are currently only available to respond to emergency situations which may have an impact on the health and safety of members of the public, these will be dealt with within a 24 hour period.
Reported faults will continue to be registered on our management system and these will be tackled in coming months.

  • Ref: 348747 Thank you for your report; we have logged this as a fault on our management system. Our current policy is for our contractor to attend electrical & structural emergencies as a priority; these will be attended within a 24hr period. All other faults are logged on our management system, for efficiency, these are grouped by area and the date they were reported, and the contractor attends against a programmed of works based on this approach.

  • It is simply unacceptable that this problem has not been fixed after 10 weeks. The front of our house is unilluminated causing a security concern and it is difficult to navigate vehicles on/off the driveway increasing risk of accident. Please fix this streetlight. Thank you.

  • This is on our management system for attendance and our new contractors are currently trying to rectify the backlog of issues, this should be attended to shortly. Apologies for the inconvenience this must be causing
