Japanese knotweed
Reported in the Roads and Carriageways category anonymously at 14:31, Thu 22 November 2018
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 4 minutes later
The stand of Japanese knotweed is still here and the edge closest to the road was cut earlier this year. If this was done by strimming, there is a danger that it will have been spread, illegally. Has a programme of herbicide treatment been implemented?

This morning I witnessed a tractor flailing the verge at the location where the knotweed is present. I’m fairly sure some stems were flailed. This really needs marking with posts or something else to make its presence evident to your contractor, who you must surely have told about avoiding this plant, surely? It is illegal to spread this plant and flailing it is a sure-fire way of doing so.
