Abuse of disabled bays in Wantage town centre

Reported anonymously at 10:05, Thu 15 November 2018

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council and Vale of White Horse District Council 4 minutes later

Yesterday there were 4 trade vans parked in the disabled bays outside the Nationwide Building Society. A further two vans were parked on the pavement at each end of the disabled bays, making a grand total of 6 trade vans parked in a row.

Not one of them was displaying a blue badge.

Upon speaking to a couple of shop keepers, they have been parked there for a few days now.

These parking spaces are generally misused anyway by able bodied people, but to have tradesmen also abusing them for a number of days is not acceptable. Even delivery drivers like Parcelforce, and other couriers misuse these parking bays.

The disabled bays are there for anyone who has a blue badge for whatever disability they may have.

It's about time someone patrolled the Wantage area to see how many parking infringements there are, and that includes people parking on double yellow lines too.
