Light from street lighting very bright inside home

Reported in the Street lighting category by David church at 07:44, Mon 5 November 2018

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 1 minute later

The aged street light is very bright and illuminates our front bedroom at 23 Elizabeth Rise (we have just moved in) ..is it possible to replace it with a LED lamp that shines 90% of the light downwards?

  • It would be nice to resolve this if at all possible. Some street lights in Elizabeth Rise are LED already...sadly not those outside our house !

  • Is there any chance of a conversation with someone please... the street has half old style orange lighting and half LED. The orange lighting is very intrusive. Many thanks

  • Apologies that our inspector has not responded, he has investigated and raised an order to have black paint placed down part of the side and the back of the bowl of the lantern to help alleviate the issue. This will be carried out as soon as possible

  • Thanks.... shame these lights cannot be of the same standard as the other LED lamps in the street...and resolve the problem we are encountering. I imagine the paint will not last long........

  • I am not sure what was actually done to the light in question this morning but neither my wife nor myself can notice any significant difference. It is the light emitting from the side of the lamp that is the issue. This does not appear to occur from the LED lamp further down the road. Is it a question of cost that is the issue? Why have some been replaced and others not ?

  • Some work done and helpful discussion has taken place. Hopefully a LED lantern will be fitted in due course
