Parking Issue
Reported in the Road Markings category anonymously at 12:43, Mon 29 October 2018
Sent to Oxford City Council and Oxfordshire County Council 2 minutes later
A tour coach parked on double yellow line & on the foot path in Cripley road. Are tour coach drivers being instructed to continue stopping in Cripley Road, but to avoid designated parking bays?
Standing on double yellow, for loading/unloading while the driver is with the vehicle may pass unpunished even though Highway Code Rule 238 says it isn't, and immediate resident wished it didn't.
But surely pulling up on the sidewalk is crossing the line, isn't it? As per Highway Code Rule 244 which forbids in London and exhorts against elsewhere. Why is he parked I the intersection anyway? Highway Code Rule 243: do not stop or park within 10 metres of a junction.

This report is not the entirely the responsibility of Oxford Direct Services as Oxfordshire County Council and we have not suggested that the parking bays should be avoided.
However, a recent site visit has revealed that one of the two hour parking bays has been reinstated much narrower than was originally intended.
Although his bay was indented to be used by any traffic, the insufficient width would have rendered it too narrow for coaches. Consequently we intend to reinstate it at its correct width next time it is maintained.
