Sunken Manhole in A417 eastbound carriageway, East Challow
Reported in the Roads/highways category anonymously at 15:39, Fri 26 October 2018
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 1 minute later
The manhole at this location looks to be on its last legs and has been deteriorating significantly over the past year. It has now sunk sufficiently to be considered a traffic hazard and is only a couple of metres distant from the village bus shelter used regularly by villagers. I suggest the manhole should be reinstated and the road pavement around it repaired.

I spoke with Mr Johnson today. Re the earlier FMS response, I note that the OCC criteria for intervention seem to be depth >40mm, width>150mm. I attach photos of the manhole taken today (14.1.19). I believe that the depth and width of the depression caused by the deteriorating manhole significantly exceed these criteria. The manhole has the mark "185A" but no other writing.
