Misleading road markings to A40 West exit
Reported in the Road Markings category anonymously at 19:32, Thu 25 October 2018
Sent to Oxford City Council and Oxfordshire County Council 3 minutes later
Wolvercote Roundabout misleading road markings when exiting roundabout to A40 West. The road markings located at the last set of traffic lights before the A40 West exit state that traffic for A40 W should be in the left of two lanes. After the traffic lights, the left lane becomes the middle lane and an additional lane appears to the left. Traffic for A40 W is supposed to move into the leftmost lane after the traffic lights. But this is not clearly stated on road signs or road markings. Drivers wishing to take the A40 W exit often remain in the same lane, which becomes the A44 N lane and swerve over to the left lane at the last minute to take the A40 W exit. This is dangerous if there are any vehicles also taking the A40 W exit already driving in the left lane. Suggest adding extra road sign at traffic lights to indicate that road will become 3 lanes and A40 W traffic needs to move left.
