Oxford Road partially completed marking refurbishment
Reported in the Road Markings category anonymously at 18:35, Thu 25 October 2018
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 5 minutes later
25/10/ 2018 again taken photos of the half completed work. Yellow lines have been renewed, at the beginning of the cycle lane - and the bicycle painted over on top again – pleasing. Then there is a huge gap all the way down the hill, both sides of the road, where the very faint or non-existent markings (road renewals) have not been painted over or painted in. The central section of lane lines that actually had adequate painting has had the lines painted over, but the ends – each hundreds of yards long - have not been painted. I also supply photos of the sections where the road was dug up and no lines have been painted on, and the section from outside Lord Williams’s School, where the painting ceases, to the roundabout where they should be painted up to. This is to my mind showing a lack of care towards our young people, who cycle down to the cycle parks just after the painting ceases, and at the top of the hill in low light when the clocks change next week, the drivers will not be able to see the very faint white cycle path lines. Oxfordshire County Councillor verbally informed at meeting today. Synopsis of uploads and responses from August 2016 to March 2018:- 2nd 2016 Reference number – 764909; later 790082 was applied to my reminder. ‘A works order has been issued for the refurbishment of these markings, this work should be completed in the near future.’ Posted August 2016. Then posted by OCC in 2017:- ‘The budget for the refurbishment of road markings in the South Oxfordshire District has been fully allocated for this financial year, the markings in question have therefore been added to the list of sites for road marking refurbishment in the 2018/9 financial year’.
