Road floods at the first sign of rain
Reported via iOS in the Blocked Drain / Gully category anonymously at 18:54, Wed 17 October 2018
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 1 minute later
The ditch is empty, but at the first sign of a small amount of rain, the road floods, on a bend, which causes cars to swerve onto the wrong side of the road to avoid it, on double white lines, and you are more likely to hit the potholes on the other side of the road too that still haven’t been dealt with or acknowledged as being defects. This has been a problem for sometime, but will be more obvious now the weather is deteriorating.

Thank you for your enquiry. I have visited the site and assessed the problem that you have identified. Unfortunately it does not meet our current intervention criteria so I cannot arrange a repair. We will continue to monitor this during our routine inspections.

What is the current intervention criteria for the flooding that takes place here then, please could you share it with us? I can almost guarantee the inspection was made when no water was present on the road on a dry day, judging by when the report was made and when it was closed, so there would not have been a problem present to physically see or inspect at that time. So if a routine inspection happens to fall on a day it is flooded might we see some action to try and prevent such problems that are going to cause accidents and could be avoided with some maintenance?
