Danger of overtaking on A421 at Mixbury junction
Reported via iOS in the Road Traffic Signs and Road Markings category anonymously at 09:24, Sat 13 October 2018
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later
When waiting in middle of road to turn right into Mixbury from A421, sometimes oncoming traffic cannot see you waiting in the middle of the road. This means cars sometimes start overtaking, a lorry for example, risking head on collision with a waiting vehicle.
I have seen this personally 2-3 times and only avoided an accident by hooting my horn loudly and the overtaking car has found a space to insert back into the oncoming traffic, or turning right close in front of an oncoming vehicle.
This junction has become dangerous due to increase in traffic volumes over the last few years and I think that either overtaking should be banned on the A421 past this junction or drivers should be warned of the junction and cars waiting in the middle of the road.
