Obstructing a busy highway

Reported anonymously at 12:39, Wed 10 October 2018

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council and South Oxfordshire District Council 1 minute later

Residential cars are parked on narrow Gillotts lane every day, creating long traffic queues and gridlock during school opening and closing times. These cars also make it very difficult for the school coaches to pass. As all of these detached residential properties have drives, could you consider putting down double yellow lines on this stretch of the road?

  • The installation of formal waiting restrictions (yellow lines) requires the implementation of a traffic regulation order which involves a long and expensive legal process, including full consultation. I regret that Oxfordshire County Council cannot fund such a scheme at this time. Vehicles parking in such a way to cause an obstruction are committing an offence under s.22 of the Road Traffic Act 1988 and can therefore be reported to Thames Valley Police.
