Potholes and flooding
Reported in the Blocked Drain / Gully category by G M OVEY at 13:35, Sun 23 September 2018
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 5 minutes later
This problem has been reported since Autumn 2017 all through the winter of 2017/2018 and the wet spring of 2018 and now with the first serious rain of Autumn 2018 the problem re-emerges. Will Oxfordshire Highways please empty the gullies, ditches and drains to allow surface water to drain into them prevent the highway flooding between the Greys Road town boundary and the village of Rotherfield Greys in three different places. These gullies, drains, ditches have not been emptied for over three years - is that because you have no where to put the contaminated soil?. The surface of the road is suffering as a result of this lack of care and the potholes are large and dangerous resulting in cars driving on the wrong side of the road to avoid them and sometimes on blind corners. The surface water from the flood in these pictures pours into our drive and is undermining its surface. Further photographs to follow at the other two flooding areas on this stretch of road will follow.

Thank you for your three fix my street reports regarding drainage issues between Greys Road and Rotherfield Greys. I inspected this route on Monday (after the weekend rain) and found no standing water present. However I have passed these on to the assets team to asses the drainage ditches for future programmed work. This road is also inspected monthly and any potholes found addressed accordingly. I also understand that some gullies have recently been emptied near Church Close. We will continue to monitor through routine inspections. Thank you.
