White road markings need urgently replacing

Reported in the Road Traffic Signs and Road Markings category by David Austin at 09:33, Tue 18 September 2018

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 17 minutes later

These markings haven’t been re painted for over 10 years and as there is no Give Way sign it makes the junction very dangerous. The corner is very sharp turn left and the markings help the driver negotiate this corner.

  • This is an urgent request as the marking have almost disappeared. This leaves the sharp corner unmarked and very dangerous. An accident waiting to happen!!

  • Thank you for your enquiry. We have investigated your report and it has been actioned to be fixed. Unfortunately we have a very large backlog of lining work and the wintery cold wet weather makes progress very slow. Fortunately in the meantime our accident database shows there have been no accidents here in the last 5 years.

  • 5 months on and still nothing has been done regarding this matter. This just isn’t good enough and the authority needs to take action now - this is an accident waiting to happen! Being on a waiting list isn’t enough - action is what is required and now!

  • Unfortunately county resources are such that we have to prioritise works at locations where accidents are actually occurring rather that at sites where there only "may" be an accident. We share your frustration and if resources were available we would be only too happy to get such locations re marked asap. This location is on a priority list now but I still cannot offer a firm date.
