Traffic volume & speeding

Reported in the Roads/highways category anonymously at 17:42, Thu 6 September 2018

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 2 minutes later

Having already reported a problem on Elmhurst Way, Carterton due to new houses and extended road, I thought I would carry out my own straw poll whilst waiting for the council to shift their bones and come and look at the issue. Between 1720 and 1735 to day I have counted 38 cars passing our house - and I think only one of them was paying any attention to the speed limit. From a quiet road to racetrack in one easy movement. Thank you, Planning Department. ACTION PLEASE, OCC - soon! (3rd time of asking)

  • I reported the hugely increased traffic and frequent speeding to OCC over two months ago and still nothing has been done to remedy this problem. They give planning permission for new homes without any thought as to the effect on current residents - maybe they should try living here now. This road is horrendous since the other part of the development has been opened, people whizzing through at all times of the day and night and using our residential roads as a cut through from Burford to Witney on what used to be a tranquil road. There is an old peoples home and a park nearby plus LOTS of dogwalkers, all now at risk and in the summer you can't have your windows open because the noise is horrendous. SHAME ON YOU, OCC.

  • I notified OCC back in September about the ridiculous increase in traffic due to a new housing estate which has given rise to vastly increased traffic volume and speeding on our previously quiet residential road - they have done NOTHING, apart from sending these stupid updates asking if the problem is resolved. They really don't care about our quality of life and are quite content to allow speeding motorists to make our lives a misery. SHAME ON OCC
