Bridge over Madley Brook in very poor condition
Reported in the Bridges category anonymously at 16:09, Wed 18 July 2018
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 1 minute later
The wooden railings on the footpath bridge over Madley Brook are in an appalling condition. The railings are rotting and wobbly and recently the lower rail on one part of the bridge has dropped off. It is only a matter of time until a child, or an adult, falls into the brook. I think this has been reported in the past but clearly nothing effective has been done. The other bridges over the Windrush are also in a poor condition. Given the number of people that use the footpath to Cogges, I would have thought repair of the bridges would be treated as a priority.

If the owner of the bridge was advised about its condition, he/she has done nothing about it and inevitably the bridge has deteriorated further. As a public footpath passes over the bridge, I do not understand why the council has no responsibility to ensure public safety when using it.
