Blocked road gully

Reported in the Drainage category anonymously at 11:07, Thursday 12 July 2018

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 2 minutes later

Following excavation to repair a water leak, Thames Water were able to identify the point of the collapsed pipe causing blockage to the road gully at 6 Winterbrook. This has not functioned for many years and causes regular flooding of the carriageway, forcing traffic onto the wrong side of the road. As the collapse is adjacent to the road gully, I hope this will enable a repair to be undertaken quickly.

  • Re. your status change to 'Fixed' I can see that the gully has been cleaned out, but there has been no attempt to remedy the collapsed pipe as previously described. The road was flooded as usual following the heavy rain on 10 August, so I will await the next heavy rain to see how effective the 'Fix' has been. Please note: this is an ongoing problem first reported on 12/02/2014 which you have repeatedly classified as 'Fixed' but have failed to carry out any repairs other than standard gully cleaning. This may enable a small volume of water to exit the gully, but once the surrounding soil is saturated, further runoff from heavy rain has nowhere to go, resulting in extensive flooding of the road and the inability to access our drive on foot.
