Street light failed

The street light on the footpath alongside the garage of 16 Merganser Drive flickered before failing completely.

Thank you for contacting Oxfordshire County Council Street lighting, unfortunately we are currently only available to respond to emergency situations which may have an impact on the health and safety of members of the public, these will be dealt with within a 24 hour period.
Reported faults will continue to be registered on our management system and these will be tackled in coming months.

Our current policy is for our contractor to attend electrical & structural emergencies as a priority; these will be attended within a 24hr period. All other faults are logged on our management system, for efficiency, these are grouped by area and the date they were reported, and the contractor attends against a programmed of works based on this approach.

  • This light has failed again, almost immediately after the recent repair. The lamp post bears the number 7.

  • Street light number 7 in Merganser Drive is not working. This is the third time the light has failed since June.

  • The street light is still not working after 5 1/2 months. Please advise when it is scheduled to be repaired.

  • Problem has not been fixed and the foot path is pitch black. Not good and could mean a rise in crime along the path / close. It’s been nearly 6 months why has this not been fixed?
