Travellers have set up camp in this area

Reported anonymously at 10:10, Fri 15 June 2018

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council and Vale of White Horse District Council 4 minutes later

I just have! Mammalian wildlife, eg deer, foxes, hedgehogs, birds of prey, etc are at risk of being harmed and/or eaten. The stream (Letcombe Brook) running through the area is an AONB and is in danger of pollution from these people. The travellers are an eyesore and have no right to be there. Furthermore, this area is council-owned and maintained, therefore the council will have to foot the bill for the inevitable damage these people will cause and this is obviously an unnecessary expense which the council - and consequently the legal residents - will have to pay. Today (15.6.18) is the first day they have been seen in this location. They need to be forcibly removed immediately and barriers erected at either end of the footpaths to allow people and bicycles through but not vehicles.

  • The travellers have left the area - BUT - no barriers have been erected to stop this situation happening again. Therefore the problem has NOT been fixed. I object to being forced to pay for the council workers to clear up all the rubbish and human excrement left behind, together with the rectification/repair to the damage done to the wildlife areas by isn't fair, right or acceptable. Put barriers up to allow cycles and pedestrians to access the area but NOT vehicles!!

  • Travellers left some time ago but NOTHING has been done to prevent them setting up camp here again. The two entrances to the area, ie one at the rear of the area leading from the estate and one leading to the A338 main road, need to have a barrier of some sort put in place so that pedestrians and bicycles have access but motor vehicles do NOT. Just because the travellers have gone is no reason to become complacent. Steps need to be taken by the council to prevent them coming back again!
