Overgrown footpath

Reported anonymously at 21:06, Monday 4 June 2018

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council and Vale of White Horse District Council 4 minutes later

The footpath running beside the Bay Tree pub from Denchworth road to Old Mill Hall is very overgrown, and impassable. The signage, particularly that relating to cyclists is illegible or buried in the undergrowth or turned around , and cyclists therefore ignore them and put pedestrians in extreme danger as the path is very narrow .

Updates

  • I took these photographs on the 3rd June this month, they will give you some idea of how much more difficult it will become for the public to pass through, as the season progresses and the bramble thorns begin to hang from the overhanging shrubs above. The problem emanates from the unkept farm building adjacent to the footpath and has presented this problem for several years.

  • The trees at the Bay Tree end of the footpath which were NOT causing any problems or obscuring any signage have been cut back , but the signs at the other end of the footpath outside the day care centre for the elderly are buried in their shrubbery and those that are not buried are either facing the wrong way or totally illegible .

  • I've said that the problem has been fixed, but only partially so . Although the foliage outside the Grove Day Centre For The Elderly has been cut back, the "Cyclists Dismount" is still facing the wrong way , the footpath is very narrow, and wholly unsuitable for cycles, and stronger measures to discourage the use by cyclists need to be implimented .
