Thank you for your enquiry. We have investigated your report and it has been actioned to be fixed. For info the records show that the gullies in Park Road were last cleared 17-10-17 and a request has been sent to the Drainage team for the gullies to be investigated as there are regular enquiries about them.

Your report above says that the problem has been fixed. As I saw it the "fix" consisted of a routine gulley cleaning using suction and some rods. As I have said in reports going back many years this action does not cure the problem. It is a temporary fix which means that in a few months the gulley will not be able to handle large water flows. The same operation has been carried out many times, the last in November 2017. Within a few months my house will again be subject to the risk of flooding from the road. Is there someone I can discuss this with

As mentioned a request has been sent to the Drainage team for the gullies in this section of Park Road (to Queensway) to be investigated as there are regular enquiries about these gullies and they are being monitored. However I have made the Drainage Team aware of your comments and advised that you wish to discuss with someone.

The status at 9th July 2018 was as follows. “Thank you for your report, we are now investigating this issue using our specialist contractors for a more extensive investigation State changed to: Investigating” On 1st August two operatives came in the afternoon to check the gulley. They discussed with me what the problem was and what they would aim to do. They returned in the evening with a tanker and a van and worked for more than 1 hour to try to clean out the drain system in both directions from the gulley outside 29 Park Rd; in the southerly direction to the main drain which runs east between No 29 and No 31 Park Rd; in the northerly direction to the gulley outside No 25 Park Rd – the water from this gulley also flows to the main drain. Both drains which run along the direction of the road and should carry the water from the gulleys to the main drain had blockages of roots and earth/mud. After working for more than1 hour with water jetting the operators stopped. They said that they had not completed the job and that they would return another day to complete the work. This is now one week and I am concerned that no further work has yet been done to correct this problem – it is now clear from the visit that there is a serious blockage in the drain system rather than just debris blocking the kerbside gulleys. Water cannot flow properly from the gulley outside No 29 to the main drain and the fact that the water from the gulley outside No 25 is also unable to flow to the main drain increases the amount of water on the road and further increases the risk of water flowing into my drive. Until these problems are corrected there will always be a risk of water flowing into my driveway and ultimately putting my house at risk. I would like some assurance that a full correction of the problem will be made now that it has been properly identified. Elwyn Baynham 8/8/2018 27 Park Rd Didcot
