Drain bloced at the bottom of Pettiwell

Reported in the Drainage category by Jess Mackay at 08:38, Wed 2 May 2018

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 1 minute later

A huge pool develops quickly during rainfall and does not drain away. I can see that the drainage hole in the curb is blocked

  • The drain has not been unblocked. The recent rain has caused water to pool already at the bottom of Petiwell. The water pools on the side of the road closest to Chislehampton

  • Thank you for your enquiry. I raised a defect to get the drain jetted and it states that this was done. Sometimes our drainage system is unable to cope with the volume of water and it takes time to drain away, however, I will continue to monitor this during our routine inspections. Regards

  • Thank you for responding so quickly.

If you look at the kerb (the drain forms part of the kerb edge) you can see that it is completely blocked. It really does need jetting / cleaning out. I drive past everyday, and I have never known it not to be blocked.

  • Please see my precious comments. My updates from September 2018 still describe the current situation. Following the recent heavy rain, the bottom of Pettiwell is completely flooded. Please unblock the drain.
