Blocked drain (ongoing problem for over 2 years)

Reported in the Drainage category by Alison Sims at 10:57, Tue 13 February 2018

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 3 minutes later

This drain constantly blocks, everytime it rains! The council installed a new cover June/July 17 but this has not alleviated the problem. This is likely causing foundation damage to our property which we will persue if this is not adequately resolved.

  • I'm getting a little tired of the updates stating that this has been fixed! No it has not. I saw a vehicle possibly attempting to clear the drain on Thursday 9th. By Friday 10th it was blocked again as shown by picture one. Picture 2 shows the damage being done to the lamp post and picture 3 demonstrates today (11th March 18), completely blocked with mud. So once again, no this is NOT fixed. This requires a permanent solution.

  • Been reporting this on-going problem for 2 years now. It has never been resolved. Photos demonstrate how bad it was yesterday with a river running down the road where the drain should be working.....

  • Constantly blocked for more than 2 years and now causing damage to streetlamp - concrete base is corroding due to being constantly water logged. This now also needs rectifying!

  • The council have unblocked the drain yet again. Although its hard to have faith in this - as soon as we have rain its likely it will be blocked again. This has been going on for over 2.5yrs and has now damaged the founation of the streetlight shown on the picture.

  • Heard the council clearing the drain on Wednesday 29 May for over an hour. As stated previously this does not resolve the ongoing issue. Photos taken take demonstrate that the drain is still blocked and it is believed that this is causing a sewerage issue with our neighbour's property. The second picture demonstrates the ongoing issue to the lampost which should be reported to electricity board. I have continued to reiterate for over 2 years that this issue is no doubt causing a damp issue in the foundations of our property and it is likely that we take legal action if this is not resolved within an acceptable timeline.

  • Still not fixed. Drain full of debris, so as soon as it rains we will have the same unresolved issue.
