Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

Water has been present for several weeks and is not related to recent rainfall. It looks like a drainage problem.

  • This problem was reported weeks ago by the parish council. They were promised someone would come out within 10 days and still no action. There has already been an accident involving a girl on a moped who skidded on the ice. What does it take to get some action before someone has a fatal accident.

  • Hi, the site has been initially investigated and the cause appears to a be ditch capacity issue. Maintenance and clearance of ditches (unless within the highway which these are not) are the responsibility of the land owner. We will be writing to them reminding them of their obligation and requesting that they are cleared. The county council will ensure the drains (Grips) into the ditches are clear to get the water off of the road.

  • Hi, slippery road signs are now in place while we liaise with the Parish Council and Landowners on Ditch clearance to hopefully resolve the issue.

  • There is no change to the condition of the standing and running water. The standing water is also hiding some very deep potholes at the edge of the road which is causing vehicle damage.

  • Thank you for your comment. I can confirm we are still working with the Parish Council and liaising with landowners on the issue. There is limited point repairing potholes with the level of water on the road as they wont last very long at all.
