Vehicles Illegally Driving on Footpath and Green Amenity Space
Reported in the Footways and Pavement damage category anonymously at 11:30, Thu 21 December 2017
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 5 minutes later
For the past several months, car owners have been mounting the pavement and driving along the footpath and verge and then further onto the green amenity space behind Sovereign Close/Beaufort Close, to gain access to the rear of their properties No. 25/27 etc.
As we've entered winter and the ground in now wetter, this action has begun to seriously damage the grass banks and grass area, as well as generate large amounts of mud that is being deposited on the already narrow footpath.
The path from Sandringham has poor visibility with a blind corner immediately turning left, and we have had the surprise ourselves of encountering a car driving at us while walking our dog, and then struggling to grip in the grass banking to avoid us.
This is dangerous, and should not be allowed - this is not a road and not an access point for cars and needs to be discouraged.

The offence of driving over the footway is a moving traffic offence which are enforced by Thames Valley Police. Oxfordshire County Council could install a post in the footway by we do not own the adjacent grassed area, we are therefore currently liaising with SODC to discuss both authorities working together to alleviate this issue.
