Last night's report
Reported in the Street lighting category anonymously at 21:18, Fri 24 November 2017
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 2 minutes later
I reported the broken street lights again last night. You kindly replied stating "Not the council's responsibility". This reply was put in the closed section which means very few people will see it. I would appreciate if it could be transferred to the open section.
I am also pleased that you have a comprehensive procedure which ensures the safeguarding of the standard of work carried out. However, the operating of this procedure is so impractical that it prevents the safeguarding of pedestrians, cyclists and other road users. I also gave 2 examples of where the dangers increase week by week. We have one had the first frosts of the season and soon the morning rush hour will be in complete darkness. Then the festive season will be in full swing which unfortunately means drunk drivers and pedestrians. The main reason local residents report this is to help you fulfil your safeguarding responsibilities towards local residents, who incidently pay your wages. All you can do is write that is is "Not the council's responsibility". Can you please draw this to senior management's attention and remind them of the successful manslaughter prosecution (due to a safeguarding failure by a builder) in London in February this year after a pedestrian was killed when walking down a street. Have you ever known anyone to be punished for safeguarding pedestrians?
Please restore last night's report and your reply to the open section and please ensure that this report is not put in the closed section. After all, the problem has not been fixed.
