Lights around park not working and not enough lighting
Reported in the Street lighting category anonymously at 21:37, Sat 9 September 2017
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 2 minutes later
There appears to have been one light removed and others are not working around the park on Shakespeare Drive park. I feel there was already insufficient lighting, especially on the corner leading to Welland Croft which is very dark. The park is now dangerous to walk through at night.

Thank you for your report, can you advise if the lights you are referring to are in the park itself, if they are then these are not owned/maintained by Oxfordshire County Council and would need to be reported to the landowner direct. Unfortunately we do not hold records of private lights. If it is not within the park please advise, using the attached map, the street light number(s) you are referring to.

You appear to have uploaded a map of the danger field on Shakespeare Drive, not the recreational park. The park backs on to The Shakespeare public house. Is the recreational park owned privately or by the council?

Thank you for confirming, please advise if it is the lights around the park or again inside. If inside this could be the responsibility of the District or Town Council.

I am informed that the street lights along the pathway which goes around the Shakespeare Drive park (behind the Shakespeare pub) are still not working at night. I am told that this area is attracting recreation drug use in the evening. DL

Thank you for your report, to enable us to log the fault to the correct unit can you please advise using the attached map the street light number you are referring to. If the unit is not on the map this would not be owned/maintained by Oxfordshire County Council and would need to be reported to the developer/landowner direct. Unfortunately we do not keep records of private lights.

M19, M20 and M24 were not working this weekend when I went through the park.
There also needs to be more lighting after M19 towards Welland Croft as this corner is especially dark.

1 year since my report and nothing has been done about this situation. The opposite side of the park had new lights installed but this side of the park remains in complete darkness. Still dangerous and something should be done about it, especially now the evenings are darker earlier.

The lights still do not seem to have been repaired on the green land, but I have noticed that 2 benches have been put around the green. I do feel that due to the length of time this fault has been report that the council would review the poor lighting around this field? Can it please be looked at as soon as possible?
