Terrible orange street light pollution in house
Reported in the Street lighting category anonymously at 22:12, Sat 26 August 2017
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 2 minutes later
The light pollution from an old orange street light in Minchins Close is terrible and illuminates the inside of our house. Attached photo taken from first floor landing through bedroom door and shows the light through bedroom window. They should be LED in 2017 but a cowell or shield like on some belisha beacons would help. Thank you.

Many thanks for sending this request through and apologies this light is causing issue. There is a roll out of LED replacements throughout the county but we replace them by Lantern age, this one hasn't quite hit the age just yet. As we need the front of the lantern to light this section of highway its a bit tricky, the lantern here doesn't have a shield in production at this time but what we can try is to paint out the very front section of the bowl, in most instances this blocks the light sufficiently. I will raise this fault now , let me know once complete if this has solved the issuePosted by Oxfordshire County Council at 09:31, Wed 30 August 2017

I'm not sure what has been done here or how you would know which street light I was specifically talking about anyway. But there is no improvement although the light in question was temporarily broken recently which was a blessing until it was repaired. It's the 360 degree nature of the lights I can't understand. We live behind the light effectively and it completely bathes our house. I do hope that more street lights are replaced soon.
