Street light not working. Pole is labelled number 1. Lamp post is on the junction of Hosker close and the lamp post backs onto 39 Merewood avenue. As this area has a lot of trees it is make the corner dark for pedestrians

Reported faults will continue to be registered on our management system and these will be tackled in coming months.

  • Thank you for your report, we have attended site and found there to be a supply fault.

    Unfortunately any power failure due to cable/supply fault is outside the control of Oxfordshire County Council and has to be dealt with by the local electricity supply company, to whom this has been reported. These faults may take some time to repair.

    Oxfordshire County Council’s contractor is not permitted in any way to interfere with or try to repair electricity supply faults, as they would be in breach of the statutory safety regulations if they tried to do so.

    Electricity companies generally prioritise supply restoration work in the following order: 1. High voltage faults affecting large areas of housing or commercial premises etc. 2. Low voltage faults to groups of, or individual, housing or commercial premises etc. 3. Traffic signals/Zebra crossing/Pelican crossing. 4. Large groups of street lights (commonly caused by cable failures). 5. Small groups of street lights. 6. An individual street light.

    Once the electricity supply company advises Oxfordshire County Council the fault is rectified we will confirm this within our regular inspection programme to ensure that the light as a whole is in working order.

  • This fault was reported at the beginning of August and we are now in November- How long do we have to wait for this repair.

  • Thank you for your enquiry, this unit supply fault was passed to Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE) to repair on the 03 July 2017, they advised this was repaired on the 15 July 2017. We reattended in September after receiving a report this unit was still out of light and found this to be a repeat SSE fault and was passed to them accordingly. We were advised by SSE that this unit was repaired again on the 30 October, however when we returned to check supply we have found there is still no supply to the unit, this again has been passed back to SSE to repair on the 31 October, their ref: CU4511
