Unsuitable Road increasingly being used by HGV's to avoid new weight limits

Reported anonymously at 21:29, Mon 18 January 2021

This road is becoming so dangerous for it's normal light traffic, pedestrians cyclists and horse riders, due to the huge volumes of HGV traffic increasingly using the road in attempt to avoid the new weight limits in Burford and Charlbury. The road between Judds Grave cross roads and Leafield is single carriageway in many places and the lorries are making the road wider by cutting up the grass verges making dangerous mud on the road. This is a road includes several lethal blind bends, as it progresses toward Leafield and also a well known local accident blackspot outside Quarry Hill farm, it is totally unsuitable for HGV's as leads to Leafield village only and eventually passes the village school (also a well know congestion spot). There are also three professional race-horse training yards based along this road with horse traffic passing along this road daily to access the gallops, we have experienced several near misses and there has also been a collision of horse and a vehicle recently resulting in an injured rider. these are not just medium sized lorries coming up this tiny lane but we are now regularly seeing 28tonne arctics taking up the whole of the road as they attempt to come up it. The road should be banned to over 7.5 tonne and at the very least should have the following signs urgently placed along it at strategic points: 1. an 'Unsuitable for HGV's' sign at both ends of the road, 2. a warning sign that there are horse riders regularly using this stretch of road. Please act quickly there is certainly going to be another fatality along this road very soon.
