A white line on the road between 11a, Lyalls and Co, and 11b Abbey Rentals, (now vacant), High St., Eynsham, OX29 4HA. Reported anonymously at 16:00, Mon 12 October 2020 This white line was originally placed on the road by the owner of a fishing tackle shop which relocated about TEN years ago, but the white line remained. Consequently, any vehicle that parks to the east of the line alongside Lyalls, trying not to park on the white line, now cause a hazard by forcing buses on to the wrong side of the road to gain enough turning space to turn left, then immediately right to align alongside the bus stop. Pedestrians are then faced with a bus aiming straight towards them. Buses have to execute an almost 90 degree turn to the left, which causes them to approach the pavement almost head on, before turning almost 90 degrees back to the right to come alongside the stop. There is not much space for pedestrians to manouvre. Any pedestrian not nimble enough to move, like a mother with a buggy or my friend who is blind, could be in trouble. (Actually, a double yellow line placed from the corner of Lyalls to the end of the shop would also greatly alleviate the problem). Please can your surveyor come out and assess the situation and enable this white line to be removed. Such is the problem with some old white lines. This problem is also exacerbated by the number of non-residents commuting to Oxford, and parking wherever they can, although this has only been somewhat alleviated in the current climate. Many thanks!!
