Spring head in road produces water which runs down road in all but drought conditions freezes in winter with major hazard trying to get out of hamlet of taston

Reported anonymously at 12:49, Wed 9 January 2019

Water wells up in the road and runs down the road freezing to thick layers of ice in winter. It has done so ever since I have lived here, 5 years. I am told it has been investigated by Thames water but is not a leaking water main.(first photo)1 It is almost certainly a spring head and there are several others only yards away. It needs tapping a technique perfected by the Romans and still supplies Rome with drinking water to this day! A sizeable hole need to be dug at the site of the sping with a drain exiting its base leading into the stream some 30 yds maximum down the hill.the hole then filled with coarse gravel finer gravel in layers and the road surface restored above. This would avoid the water running (photo 2)down the road water logging the verge churned up into a mud hole by passing vehicles, (photo 3)and remove the ice hazard to pedestrians and vehicles in winter. By allowing the road to dry out would minimise frost damage to surface in winter also. All photos taken 9 th December with no recent rain for 7 + days
